The Botch.

.

There is a terrific new hairstyle out there. It actually causes people to move much more quickly than they normally would. It's called "The Botch" and I invented it.

No pictures, because of the quick movement I just mentioned, but it sure got us out the door in a hurry to try to get to a walk-in salon in time to get to a Civil War dance demonstration in time.

I don't know if I'm the only one, or what, but I just looked at Michael and the uncontrollable urge to do something with his mop before we left hit me. Sadly, when I ran the clippers up the back of his head, the expected result did not occur.

I put on makeup while driving, and Michael finished dressing in the car and we roared off down our road, praying for an empty parking lot in front of a walk-in salon. We got one!

AND.... we even got to the demonstration on time. Wow! That was a great haircut! As all those who know us know, we are usually late for EVERYTHING!

The farm at which our Civil War Civilian Society gave the demonstration is in the process of promoting themselves historically. They actually have an archaeological dig going on there, as they have found some old bodies and settlements. The farm is hoping to be a historical landmark and were hosting a historically themed event.

But it was damp and cool and, for those of us who were not dancing, we bore a faint resemblance to popsicles.

The pavilion was small, but the troop managed to do well despite it.

Day dances actually require day dresses, and the green one in the following photographs illustrate one, beautifully, but we need more sewing time to get several dresses to choose from. So an explanation was given to the crowd that the ball gowns they were seeing were not appropriate historically.

I can't help my motherly, rapturous feelings of, "How cute is he when he waltzes!"

I am also shocked when I think, "Oh, my goodness, we are SEWING these things!"

Girls, turn around and look surprised!

Oh, we ARE the Queens of candid.

  5. Holly,

It is a grand opportunity to learn as well as teach, all while having a good time.

And I can't imagine sewing these either. We are flying by the seats of our bloomers on these. LOL

  6. Jo,

I was eyeing some antique quilts that were hanging on display because, no, I did not have a blanket or jacket. Just my t-shirt. Brrrr! I had thought it was supposed to clear and get to 70.

    I was wrong. ;o)

  7. SBF,

It's the 'man in uniform' thing, I think.

I love it when the boys go ask the girls to dance, the girl says, yes, the boy holds out his hand to help her rise and she curtsies...

So cute! I love it. LOL
