Blackberry Winter

.

A term used to describe a brief period of cold weather that coincides with the time the blackberries are in bloom, (typically in early to mid May).

I think we dodged the frost, though.

  2. We didn't dodge it here. It hit the week of the full bloom and killed 90% of the crop. While mowing on Monday, I noticed some ripe berries and walked the whole 2 acre feild and found only a hand full of ripe berries. There are probably more in the neighbor patch and they aren't picking but it is a long walk around to get there or figure out how to get this old self over the fence. I need to put in a gate.

Faith, you don't know how much I appreciate you. Thank you for all your encouragement.

  3. We have had blackberry winter down here too and the wind!! It blows and blows.

I'm like the cool weather, not the wind though.
    Have a great day.
