Happy SUMMER!

.

Although, it's been such a sweltering spring that this actually caught me a little by surprise this morning. I knew in my head that today was the first day of summer, but actually hearing it on the news as I was making my bed just kind of whacked my brain... "Whoa, it already feels like it's been summer for a while!"

Anyway, enjoy this looooooongest day of the year today. Stay up and watch the moon if you are able. Ponder the stars and how God has created all of these to speak to you of His plan for the ages. Dwell on Him.

The days will be shortening from now on, for those of us who are northern globe-dwellers. Can you believe it? Just when we were getting going! But that means we can already begin planning for a fall garden. And since my spring garden has been less than stellar, I'm actually looking forward to a second shot at it.

The lettuce and pea beds will have another opportunity, and I hope to get the greenhouse and cold frames in before winter.

I can't believe I am already planning this!

  1. I KNOW! What the heck happened to May??? Come and gone already? Winter seems to drag it's snowy, slushy feet and summer seems to be running a marathon!

  3. I walked outside today and thought it felt hotter. I also watered my upside down tomato plants because they were wilting, but they look happy now!

Missed you yesterday, but I do hope to see you soon. If you need any help, just call! Love you!

  4. Cyn,

I don't know! Every year I look forward to May, the month I get to leave my windows open 24/7 unless the wind blows the rain in. It didn't happen this year. I've had the cooler on for a few months now! I so miss the cool breeze and the birdsong filling the house all long. :o)

  5. Icebear,

It sure isn't. But I do need to get some benches and shade around here so I can at least sit down in between and enjoy what we're doing instead of trying to view it at breakneck speed. LOL

  6. Leah,

Yup, the plants are wilting and the grass is crunching. Not good. Had to water the fruit trees today and Michael is out dragging the hose over the herb garden so we can get the ground soft enough to weed this week. You can come and help weed the herb garden if you like. We got the strawberries done, but when I got to the basil everything was just breaking off.

I saved some lemon seeds, inspired by your tree. Does she have a name? She needs a bright sunshiney name!

  7. Ack! We've had a moderate amount of rainfall this year... nothing like last year, but jeepers! It's been HOT!

I never even thought to name my lemon tree. Hmm... we'll have to work on this. Maybe something obvious like "Sunshine" or "Limone" (you have to say that with a French accent.)Make sure that when you grow your lemon tree that it has a nice, warm, humid environment. The greenhouse will be great once it is up, but for now, I think you're covered on all fronts here!

I may pop over tomorrow, how does that sound?

    See ya lata~ Love.

  9. Leah,

    Sounds terrific!

Actually, Sunny came to mind, but seemed sort of common to me. I like Sunshine and Limone very much.

Sadly, I'd not be able to keep a lemon tree, but would love to see if I could get one to sprout. I could give it a little greenhouse environment until it's too big, then give it away.

Do you have a Lonely Limone? LOL
