.
The next morning started off nice and early, hoping to get in a little more work before it got too hot.
We followed this great BBQ cooker all the way into town. Mmmmmmm...
My folks were at a doctor appointment, so Michael and I got to work right away hauling out the patio
And stacking it out of the way.
Over behind our van is the stack of bricks and the light pole we took out yesterday.
Barney
Rubble
When my folks got home we were about done, so work began on taking down a tree they had nurtured for years.
Dad's chainsaw died. First time he used it. Bought six months ago. No receipt.
There was almost a Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I headed off the situation by offering my services to convince the store to give me a new one. Against their will they did so. I can't tell you how I praised God for making that happen. :o)
Bzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... (those little electric ones sound funny)
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
TIMBERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I still love to count rings.
And the rest of the time was spent sawing, chopping, hauling, and stacking. Until it was time to run to our Civil War dance practice.
Then hit gymnastics and head home!
Beautiful! Again! Thank you!

Annual Spring Civil War Ball April 10, 2010
.
We had our ball at the Country Club again, which is so beautiful, it's our favorite location.
The table filled with dance cards.
The opening dance is called the Grand March. It begins in a formal way, then dissolves into a lovely relaxed lope where all hold hands and wander around in an exuberant chain all over the dance floor.
The lighting is bad, but the memories remain.
Three dear friends.
The rules were relaxed for this ball, so those without period dress were able to join in.
Plumb tuckered out.
I am positive this will be horribly cut off at the right end, but I'm not going to take the time to resize it.
Until this Christmas!

Civil War Era Farm Demonstration April 10, 2010
.
We were doubled slammed on this day with not only a historical farm event, but our Annual Spring Ball as well. It was a terrific day, but I hope we don't double up again next year!
We arrived as one of our friends was giving a lecture on hairstyles of the era. She did an amazing job, thoroughly researched.
Barn rafter still life.
Our group gave three dancing demonstrations throughout the day.
There are always last minute repairs to be done, as we continue to perfect our wardrobes.
I do not have a day dress, only a ball gown. That, in tandem with having so much to do on this day, meant I did grunt work and photography, rather than part playing.
I liked the soaps and toiletries displays at this booth.
Preparing for the fashion show.
Waiting out in front of the home that was actually built around 1850.
Do you suppose these bricks could be that old...?
Even 'unmentionables' were on display.
Emily is quite the talented seamstress, as she tells how she constructed her gown.
If you try, you can almost believe this is 150 years ago.
Group portrait. Yes, there are men back there, but you'll likely not see them for the gorgeous dresses.
I ran in for some quick portraits of the house. I can't wait for her to give us a real tour.
This is, apparently, the original wallpaper!
The room everyone changed in for the fashion show. I was outside, but I can certainly imagine 25 women and girls attempting to do this.
There were so many shots I was drooling to take, but with everyone so busy I held myself back from begging for them.
We were not signed up to help with the Ladies Tea, so while that was being prepared,
A few of us went down to the stream for some photo ops.
Here's the house, from below.
Breaking this long post up, the Annual Spring Ball is next.
